Toots and The Maytals é um grupo jamaicano, originalmente chamado The Cherry Pies e depois, The Maytals. É uma das mais conhecidas bandas de Skinhead reggae, Rocksteady e ska. O seu som é uma combinação original de gospel, ska, Rocksteady, soul, reggae e rock.
O grande clássico do Toots and the Maytals é a canção, em ritmo de Rocksteady, "54-46 Was My Number", que serviu de trilha-sonora para o filme skinhead This Is England, do cineasta Shane Meadows. A sua canção "Funky Kingston" foi tema de abertura para o programa Miami Ink, exibido nos Estados Unidos pela emissora TLC e, no Brasil, pela antiga People and Arts. |
