Jamaica Hi-Fi // septiembre 13 // Chicodub + Jimmy (Echo Sound System / 7.Velas.Crew - São Paulo) Jamaican music of all styles + mixtures with electronic music + rasta eccentricities The influence Jamaica has had on world music is completely disproportionate to its size, a small island with just over 3 million inhabitants. Remix, speaking over tracks that gave rise to rap, using the studio as an instrument like any other, Bob Marley, sound systems and bass culture were and are the island's main export products. DJ Chicodub celebrates this influence by playing in his sets music a partir de the 70s made in Jamaica and mixtures of downtempo, house and breakbeats with reggae touches. For this edition of Jamaica Hi-Fi, Chicodub invites Jimmy a partir de São Paulo, one of the most innovative producers and singers on the national scene. Active since 1996, when he was a member of the (legendary) Rio band Funk Fuckers, Jimmy participates in several important projects spreading ragga and dancehall, such as Digitaldubs, Echo Sound System, 7.Velas.Crew, besides maintaining a solo career. His participation in Jamaica Hi-Fi will be as MC and DJ at the same time, in a set of new roots and current dancehall.
