Thursday well represented by the 1st Surforeggae Sunsplash at Tom Maior!
Thursday well
Preceded by much anticipation and anxiety, September 12 and the 1st Surforeggae Sunsplash arrived. Tom Maior welcomed the faithful reggae fans who came to support Surforeggae in this first year full of dedication and work, which made the site grow and earn the respect and admiration of those who know it. Around 10 am, the crowd began to take over the venue giving a special touch to the place and a beautiful 22-degree night dominating São Paulo. With DJ Samuca in charge, the result could only be classics rolling, both in reggae and forró. On the reggae team none other than Dennis Brown, Hugh Mundell, Gregory Issacs, among others... while Tom Zé, Mestre Ambrósio and Chama Chuva gave the roots color to forró.
All this introduction preceded the entry of the invited bands, warming up to then, at midnight, come on strong. And the first live notes of the night were gifted by band Anti Babylon. With a strong vocal mixing soul elements, with the bass present giving gas to the sound. Famous Reggae Roots covers were in their incredible repertoire. After overcoming the shyness of "show start", Anti Babylon left applauded leaving the vibes at the right point until the end of the night. After 1 hour of show, the stage is dominated by the magic of roots reggae band Conexão Jah.
Without much time to think, the guys already come out playing Bob Marley and Edsom Gomes covers. I think you can imagine at what speed reggae hearts beat, right? To close, bringing the crowd together once and for all, enters the pé-de-serra forró of band Terra Seca. As the party is Surforeggae, obviously even when attacking forró, the sound was Roots. Besides playing their songs, they infected couples with "Morena Tropicana", "De volta pro Aconchego" and other classics. Everything at the party, from start to finish, had the site's face.
The young bands that respect and make roots sound, the slow-dance fans and reggae lovers who filled the place with dance and good vibes making evident the work Surforeggae has been doing since its launch to this day. Soon celebrating another year, the team shows that honest work and true friends are the perfect combination to make a simple Thursday a wonderful day to enjoy.
