Thoughts, wishes, a bombardment of personalities somewhere on the internet!

Thoughts, wishes, a bombardment of personalities somewhere on the internet!

At a moment when many would consider it routine, I saw entering to take a look at the Surforeggae message board as something totally new, and suddenly found myself facing a whirlwind of thoughts, romances, indignations, poetry, prejudices, all representing opinions of people spread throughout Brazil. Elementary conclusion, after all, the internet really drives all this unity, but in a superficial and gratuitous way.

The internet, while connecting us to the world, leaves us alone in our rooms searching in a desert for oases (also called websites) that, for example, show us on a message board excerpts of Djavan's poetry. Breaking the stereotype that we are a lost youth who find it beautiful to listen to depressing music was what I found on the board. I saw Indignadu du Reggae concerned that all the media coverage of reggae might turn it into just another fad... but I also saw him feel, after long "exchanges of opinions" with Heleno, that the people who visit the site respect reggae culture.

I found Marcela's prejudice, first in thinking that every pot smoker is irresponsible and then in thinking that every reggae fan is a pot smoker. I never smoked marijuana, perhaps for lack of opportunity (incredibly enough!), and I am in favor of legalization because I think it is fairer to give young people choice and freedom than to turn a blind eye to trafficking that costs so many lives.

To lighten the mood I saw several messages from Fernando, who stopped by the board just to make people jealous saying he was going out to surf. Not to mention the love declarations, full of Mel and Abel, beginnings of romance that were enough to make a photo novel imagining through the messages.

The interaction I saw was a super healthy way to arrange meetings, meet people who like the same things, some with divergent opinions, who write with slang from the south, from the north, song excerpts and so many other things. Faced with all this, I really have to thank the people on the board who "financed" this whole philosophical spasm of mine and wish, as Jonas would say: Paz de Jah, paz de Bob, paz de Deus, caralhoooo!
