We at K-ROOT'Z are deeply moved by what happened last Saturday, November 23, when panic took hold in the streets surrounding the Espaço das Américas venue in Barra Funda. There was turmoil, brawls and damage to the venue and the area around it, and a young man lost his life. The "Hip Hop na Veia" show was taking place at this venue, and the Circuito Brasil Reggae Festival was scheduled for December 6. The incident received wide coverage in São Paulo – Brazil, with media outlets such as TV GLOBO, REDE RECORD, BAND, SBT, as well as newspapers and the Internet. For this reason the venue was shut down by the Public Prosecutor's Office for investigations into the young man's death and into the organization of the event, which failed on security. We at K-ROOT'Z and CIRCUITO REGGAE, already in the final stretch of promotion with all our advertising, radio media, tickets on sale, posters and flyers, suffered a huge loss because of this unforeseen event. We did not expect this sad news. We are now looking into the possibility of holding a smaller event at another venue; we will provide more news throughout this week, no later than the end of next week.
