Vocalist of Rasta Joint at the 4th edition of FAMA

It is with great pleasure that I am here to tell you that Verônica Bonfim, former singer of Rasta Joint, was one of the 14 selected for the 4th edition of the program FAMA, by Rede Globo de Televisão. I will now tell you a little about her musical trajectory and her career as a forestry engineer:

Verônica Bonfim is a Bahian from Ilhéus, who went to Viçosa - MG to study forestry engineering in the early 90s. With a natural musicality, as soon as she arrived at Viçosa she formed a band from Axé Music, the Banda Odara, who was very successful in the region from 93 to 96. Admiring her musicality, and knowing her deep and striking voice, and all her charisma and stage control, I invited her to be part of Rasta Joint, an invitation which she accepted immediately. From then on, she formed a backin’ vocal duo with Fernandinha, a duo that would last from 96 to 2000.

At Rasta Joint, she participated in the entire process of creating the band's CD (União - 2000) where she performed backing vocals, sang solo the song "Foi Deus Quem Fez Você" (she enters singing the 1st part of the song) and participates in the CD's interactive track, with interviews and images of her at rehearsals and shows. On stage, he participated in numerous shows in different states (Minas Gerais, Bahia, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro) and alongside bands such as O Rappa, Paralamas do Sucesso, Tribo de Jah, etc...

Paralela her artistic career, she graduated as a forestry engineer at the end of 97, and soon after began her master's degree. She starts working at ONG CTA (Centro de Tecnologias Alternativas) of Zona da Mata Mineira, where she assumes the position of Coordinator of the Atlantic Forest Conservation Program, at Serra do Brigadeiro - MG. In 2002 he began his doctorate, which he finishes this year.

The idea to register for FAMA came from her friends and admirers, who always encouraged her to continue her artistic career, even if it was parallel to that of an engineer. The registration was made, and the audio material was produced by me at Bulldog Records (professional recording studio to which I dedicate my time and my art). The song chosen was “Iluminada”, from a CD by Maria Bethania. She qualified among 42,000 competitors, was São Paulo, performed in front of a panel of judges and passed with flying colors. He returned to SP for the semi-final, a live performance at the Faculdade Paulista theater and again placed in the top 10, out of 24 finalists. And finally, SP returned for the final, which was presented live on Glogo and was among the 5 from the southeast region to join the program.

Verônica aims to improve her techniques as a singer, achieve national visibility, but above all, represent a segment of quality Brazilian music, such as Reggae and MPB, so massacred by mass culture, which almost never opens its doors to true Brazilian talents. Being there is already an achievement, staying there will be a battle. I call on the entire Regueira nation to support it, and pray to Jah to give it strength, tranquility and discernment to fight for its ideals.

I thank everyone for the space, leaving here the addresses of your community and FAMA.
