Red Stripe, the largest sponsor of reggae/dancehall events in Jamaica, says goodbye to a long partnership!

The board of directors of the Red Stripe/Guinness beer brand, which for many years was the main sponsor of major shows and festivals in Jamaica, recently announced that it will be separating its brand from the movement. Red Stripe sponsored festivals like Reggae Sumfest and Sting Festival.

The reason was clear and explicit: the brand's management alleged that some of Dancehall's performances, in particular, continue to propagate violent and anti-social messages such as homophobia.
