17-year-old son of Dancehall star is killed by police in Jamaica!

Carlton Grant Jr., the 17-year-old son of Spragga Benz, one of the biggest stars of the Jamaican Dancehall, was shot dead by the police last Sunday, August 24, 2008. The police reported that they stopped two men on bicycles on the outskirts of Kingston 8 (neighborhood of the island's capital), and when they moved towards them, one started shooting. The police then exchanged fire with the men, who fled. While searching the area, officers say they found Carlton suffering from gunshot wounds and in possession of a ".45 semi-automatic" handgun. The young man was taken to the hospital but did not survive. Contradictions aside, the family accuses the police of having murdered the young man and of having "planted" the pistol in his possession, since Carlton, according to them, never handled weapons. Carlton Grant Jr. recently participated in the film "Shottas", starring Kymani Marley, son of the king of Reggae.
