Amy Winehouse's approach to Jamaican music has always been evident throughout his career. In addition to "Cupid", one of her biggest hits, being an authentic "early reggae", the singer re-recorded the ska "Monkey Man" by Toots & The Maytals, a historic and extremely important group in the creation and development of rhythm on the island and around the world.
THE REGGAE ALBUM
Initially, the album, which should be released in 2012, was rejected by the record company because it was "reggae demais". The twelve tracks were recorded during a visit to Jamaica and will be part of the third CD by this great artist who unfortunately succumbed to addiction to heavy drugs. According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, the album will be released next year and the proceeds from sales will go towards a drug rehabilitation clinic that Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, wants to open in London. With the third CD, the artist's assets are expected to increase from approximately 16 to 80 million dollars.
