PIRACY: Over 12 million dollars in pirated goods burned in Jamaica!

On August 31st, more than 12 million dollars were burned, including pirated CDs and DVDs seized in Jamaica. According to Inspector Wilbert Mills, the seizures are important because in addition to protecting the music industry and artists, the money coming from this illegal market fuels arms trafficking in the country.

As with Jamaica, this is a common fact, especially in developing countries where piracy is still very strong. In some cases, it has bankrupted many recording companies and made life very difficult for artists who depend on the sale of their records.
