Reggae loses legendary Jamaican singer, Junior Murvin, most famous for the single "Police and Thieves". Murvin passed away this morning at his home in Summers Town Road (Port Antonio / Jamaica). Murvin Junior Smith, his real name, was born in Saint James in 1949, but after his father's death he moved to Port Antonio with his mother and brothers.
Murvin broke through with the single "Police and Thieves", a classic produced by Lee Perry in 1976, which highlighted one of his trademarks, falsetto, which is when the singer emits a controlled sound that is higher or lower, differing from his natural voice. To give you an idea of its success, "Police and Thieves" was covered by several bands, including the punk-rock band, The Clash.
Check out this and other legends that have already left us, in the special section "In Memoriam".

Junior Murvin toured the world spreading quality music in countries such as Germany, England, France, among others, and released several other hits that shook the world scene, such as "Miss Kushie", "Cool out Son", "I’m In Love", "Bad Man Posse" and "Muggers in the Street".
Junior Murvin, aged 64, was suffering a lot due to an advanced stage of diabetes. All the respect and admiration from the Surforeggae team to this true music icon.
