Bernard Collins, one of the founders of vocal trio The Abyssinians, received the "Tribute to The Greats" honor on July 12 in Kingston, capital of Jamaica. The artist, who continues performing major tours with the group, turns 68 on November 10. Bernard spent his childhood and adolescence in the Trenchtown ghettos in the 60s, where he founded with the Manning brothers (Lynford and Donald) the vocal trio that composed classics including "Satta Massagana", "Declaration of Rights" and "Forward On To Zion".

Besides Bernard, other honorees at "Tribute to The Greats" include the Browne family, from which several renowned musicians emerged such as Dalton, Noel, Danny and Glen Browne and trumpeter Oswald "Baba" Brooks.
