Daughter of the legendary Itamar Assumpção, Anelis is a special guest at Feminine Hi-Fi during Virada Cultural!

The São Paulo project Feminine Hi-Fi, made up entirely of women and focused on Jamaican music DJing, is hosting six hours of partying at Virada Cultural 2018. The venue will be Chácara do Jockey, and the event, which takes place on May 19 from 6pm to midnight, is part of the decentralized programming of Virada. The party will be amplified by the sound systems Ruído Rosa Aparelhagem (SP/SP) and Sound Sisters (São Carlos/SP), and features singer and songwriter Anelis Assumpção, who makes a special guest appearance improvising songs on the B-side of vinyl records in sound system style, weaving a unique rhythmic Brazil-Jamaica connection. Also on the mic are singers Laylah Arruda, one of the project's founders and one of the most relevant names in reggae/sound system in Brazil, and Mis Ivy, a veteran dancehall artist in the country. Daughter of singer and songwriter Itamar Assumpção, who passed away in 2003, Anelis represents the free spirit of São Paulo's musical avant-garde, as well as the touch of originality she inherited from her father. In February 2018, she released her third album, Taurina, for which she drew inspiration from her own concrete jungle, São Paulo, and from the all kinds of food she prepares alchemically in her kitchen.
