The long-awaited album "Jah-Van - Djavan Goes Jamaica" has just been released, an album that pays homage to the rich work of the singer and composer from Alagoas, Djavan, all of it in incredible versions in reggae rhythm and in aspects such as ska and rocksteady.
The producer behind the project is BiD, a lover of Jamaican and Brazilian music, and who makes a super spicy mix of these two rhythms, creating a very unique and quality language, which we had already attested to on his albums "Bambas & Biritas Vol. 1" and "Bambas Dois".

As soon as the idea came, we picked up the guitar and started testing Djavan's songs and writing down the ones that sounded cool. We also marked the ones that would have a beat more backwards than reggae or more accelerated than ska" - explains BiD, creator and producer of the album alongside Fernando Nunes.
The producer also highlighted the richness of chords and the complexity of Djavan's compositions, and that the challenge was to transform his greatest classics for the Jamaican atmosphere, simplifying one detail or another, avoiding any apparent mischaracterization. You can hear the result now:

CHIVELING REREADINGS
In January 2018 we had the pleasure of tasting the first single from this project, the song "Nem um Dia", in the voice of the great Chico César. Since then, the album has been placed on the "most anticipated" list even by the most purist regueiros, after all we are dealing with the work of one of the most respected composers in the country. The big day has arrived, and now we can hear Djavan's classics in the voices of Seu Jorge, Ivete Sangalo, Dada Yute, Arnaldo Antunes, Fernanda Abreu, Zélia Duncan, Black Alien, Zeca Baleiro, Chico César, Rincon Sapiência, Criolo and Assucena Assucena, as well as a more than special participation by the Jamaican trio The Abyssinians in the song "Cigano".
