Horatio “Pat” Kelly departed toward Zion on the morning of July 16, at age 70. The reported cause of death was kidney failure.
Born in 1949, Pat Kelly began his musical career in 1967 when he replaced Slim Smith in “The Techniques”. During that period, rocksteady reigned and Duke Reid, with his Treasure Isle studio, was one of the Island’s greatest names. The following year, the singer known for one of the most emblematic falsettos in Jamaican reggae launched a solo career.

In addition to achieving several hits during his career, he also worked as one of the sound engineers at the famous and iconic Channel One studio. Among the songs that became known in his voice are “You Don’t Care”, “Queen Majesty”, “How Long Will it Take” and “Love is Not a Gamble”.
