Versions in Portuguese and English bring a “reggae-blues” beat to “Help Me Through The Day”. Last Friday (31), singer and songwriter Fauzi, known for his work in Tribo de Jah, released “Me Ajude ao Longo do Dia”, a version of Freddie King's classic “Help Me Through The Day”. The song is part of the artist's solo compositions. He leads the band that in 2020 completes 35 years on the road and is known as a pioneer of reggae in Brazil. Recorded with Soul Vibe, with Moisés Mota on drums and production, Marcelo Rebelo on keyboards, Davi Oliveira on bass and Bruno Pessoa on guitar, Fauzi says the idea of creating the sound in Portuguese came by chance. On that occasion, he remembered a trip to São Paulo. A long time ago, walking through the streets of downtown São Paulo, I went into a used record store that sold many LPs. I found two Freddie King blues LPs. I went crazy over the sound and discovered a blues that marked me for my whole life: "Help Me Through The Day". Years later, that blues came back to my memory and I decided to make a version.”.

In addition to the translated song, Fauzi also recorded the track in English, both with a beat he calls reggae-blues. Who would have thought! It is important for me to be able to pay tribute to Freddie King. I learned that he died very young, in his early forties. I have always identified a lot with his style, becoming a big fan. So this is not just any song we are releasing, but “Help Me Through The Day” (“Me Ajude Ao Longo do Dia”)”. Both versions are now available on the main digital platforms. And the video, recorded in the city of São Luís/MA and directed by Juliana Beydoun, can be watched on Tribo de Jah's YouTube. Listen below to the English version.
