Feminine Hi-Fi Online Sessions: festival brings together reggae DJs from around the world!

In-person parties and festivals were forced to "change tracks" with the arrival of the pandemic, taking artists and DJs from the most diverse musical genres to computer and cell phone screens. It was no different for reggae DJs/selectors/singers, who also took their sessions to live streams on platforms like Instagram or YouTube. With this in mind, Feminine Hi-Fi, a São Paulo project focused on female representation in reggae music, launched the Feminine Hi-Fi Online Sessions project in April. FHF Online Sessions is a permanent online festival that makes sets by female reggae DJs from Brazil and other parts of the world available on the project's networks. More than 20 guests have already attended the festival, from countries such as Italy, Spain, Uruguay, Paraguay and the USA, and also from different parts of the country. The sets, made available weekly, are available in full on the project's IGTV, Facebook and YouTube.

ABOUT FEMININE HI-FI

The work of Feminine Hi-Fi, a creative women's hub founded in 2016, focuses on valuing the role of women in reggae music and promoting the language of reggae as an expression against oppression arising from gender issues. The project is led by Dani Pimenta, Andrea Lovesteady and Laylah Arruda. With two European tours and dozens of presentations on important stages in Brazil, Feminine Hi-Fi was among the finalists for the Guia da Folha 2019 Best of the Year Award as "Party of the Year" in the capital of São Paulo. In April 2020, we started online broadcasts via Facebook and Instagram of the weekly festival “Feminine Hi-Fi Online Sessions”, which consists of pocket performances by DJs/reggae selectors from different parts of the world. Also online, we hold “Feminine Talks”, a weekly chat with women from all over the world, leaders in different social segments.
