Mourning! Toots Hibbert, one of the main pillars of reggae history, has died.

Writing this news is not easy for any reggae lover, after all, we are talking about an icon beyond question. Toots Hibbert, the voice that rocked and shook the rhythm of Jah for the last 60 years, sadly left us on September 11th. Toots was hospitalized with all the symptoms of COVID-19, which leads us to believe that this is the cause of death, given the speed and characteristics of the disease's progression. The band made the fateful announcement on the 12th.Of Jamaican origin, Toots Hibbert was the first musician to use the word "reggae" in a recording, in the 1968 track "Do The Reggay", by his band, which was still called Maytals. Since then, dozens of hits have been recorded, such as "Pressure Drop" - covered by Amy Winehouse and the punk band The Clash, "Monkey Man", "Reggae Got Soul", "54-46 That’s my Number", an ironic response to his unjust prison for ganja, "Sweet and Dandy", and many, many others. Toots has always been active, recording, performing and bringing relevant content to the scene, whether dancing or questioning. To give you an idea, your latest album - "Got to be Tough" - isn't even a month old.The work of this man, who dedicated his life to reggae, will be remembered forever.
