Made in the Várzea neighborhood, a clip with experimental language exalts the emotional relationship between the band's lead singer and filmmaker.
An original reggae band from Pernambuco with 19 years of history, N’Zambi brings in "Cantinho", their new video, themes such as Afro-centered love and affection and anti-prohibitionism, in addition to a 100% homemade production with everyday images from cell phones and social media.
On digital platforms, the song is the most listened to (more than 27 thousand plays on Spotify), and is part of the album "Palavras de Amor" (2021), this being the group's 3rd and most recent album.
The clip was directed by multi-artist Dandara de Morais, who is also the protagonist alongside her partner George de Souza, singer and composer of N’Zambi. The music video takes place mainly in the Várzea neighborhood, affectionately nicknamed "The best corner" in the city of Recife. The couple even lives in the locality.
We show the relationship of an Afro-centered and anti-prohibitionist couple, highlighting the affection, sensuality and complicity between us. The work was also inspired by the episode Lovers Rock, from the Small Ax series, covered by the song Silly Games, by Janet Key. In the material we bring references from reggae to twerk - highlights George de Souza.
The idea of the "Cantinho" music video was also to show that it is possible to launch an audiovisual product with a homemade format using an experimental language.
We use resources from our own cell phones, with images and clippings from our social media. We use current language, showing that N’Zambi is betting on new models after so much time on the musical road," comments Dandara de Morais.
Dandara was recently awarded at the 12th BIMIFF (Brazil International Monthly Independent Film Festival), 14th Penedo Brazilian Film Festival, IV Mostra Sesc de Cinema (PE) and Latin-American Film Awards with the short film "As Vezes Que Não Isso Lá", shown in 2021. In addition to writing the script and direction, she acts in the film that was released in 2020 and is still circulating at national and international film festivals. The cinematographic work recently entered the catalog of the Todes Play platform.
