Alika became one of the greatest exponents of Latin Roots Reggae Dancehall, clearly influenced by the hip-hop she listened to from an early age, and with it she took her first steps in music. Born in Uruguay in the late 70s, she lived in the city of Montevideo. At the age of 6, Alika and her parents moved to Argentina, where she studied and became interested in the culture of peoples, which led her to pursue a career as a Historian.

In 1994 she formed a band called Actitud Maria Marta, one of the first rap bands in Argentina. They performed several shows and were recognized by the press as a "breakthrough band". The band ended, but left behind the album "Acorralar a la bestia" (1996 Polygram). In 1999, Alika decided to start her own project based on the roots of Rastafari culture, standing out for her clear and direct lyrics that speak of respect, dignity, oppression by the Western system, self-confidence and the problems faced on the outskirts. Allied with great MCs from Chile, the country where "No Dejes que te Paren" (2001 Mabrak Discos), her first independent production, took shape, she clearly managed to influence local youth, making her new work spread widely.

In 2003, she released her second album, called "Sin Intermediarios", a record very well received in Latin America. In 2005 came her third production, called "Razon Meditacion Accion". This album is characterized by a more roots sound compared to the previous ones and includes strong songs such as "Costumbre de Matar" and "No Le des Fuerza a Babilonia". Her charisma and stage presence took Alika and her music to Sound Systems, different neighborhoods and different countries such as the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Brazil and, of course, Argentina.

At the beginning of 2006 came "El Rugido del Leon", a vinyl edition that includes tracks from her latest productions. At the end of 2006, Alika recorded with Mad Professor, the genius of DUB, who produced the new work in his studio, Ariwa, in London - England. In 2007, Alika launched her exclusive clothing line. "EDUCATE YOURSELF" is the name of her fourth album, and you can listen to it on her MySpace.
