Andread Jó, born and raised in Fortaleza – Ceará – Brazil, is a composer, arranger and singer. He started in music without any professional help, but with an immense desire to use it as a vehicle for information, thus contributing to a society that lacks education and culture. Without any financial help for recording the three albums: Força (2005), We are One (2008) and Andread Jó sings Bob Marley (2012), the artist used his earnings from performances to pay the costs.

Making a living from art in Brazil is still a difficult and arduous task, but this is not and will not be an obstacle for an artist like Andread Jó; dedicated to music and the less privileged classes, he brings messages of optimism and faith in his songs, worthy of one who believes in a fairer world.

In 2001, together with friends, he formed the reggae band Donaleda, a band that revolutionized the reggae scene in Fortaleza and in the state of Ceará, and soon reached first place on Fortaleza youth radio with their first song, Luz de Jah, a track from the band's first album entitled Liberdade e Libertação (2003), earning several shows across Brazil and their first partnership as a composer with Jamaican Eric Donaldson, followed by a tour of Brazil in 2004. In early 2005 Andread Jó began his solo work and released his first album, Força, a work where the artist shows for the first time his skills as an arranger. The album includes the hits Luz de Jah, Canto and Jah say Yes, as well as the new songs Searching a Way, A Viagem, Mundo Novo, firmly establishing the artist on the national reggae scene with important performances including Maranhão Roots Reggae, São Luís - Ma, the biggest and most important reggae festival in Brazil. That same year, he received an invitation to open Alpha Blondy's shows in the capitals: Fortaleza – Ce, São Luis – Ma and Belém – Pa, and consequently, besides the shows, Andread and Alpha became friends and Alpha invited him to translate his words to the Fortaleza audience, Andread Jó's hometown.

With all these changes, Andread Jó took his first steps toward the international market, and in 2006 he made his first European tour playing in more than 10 cities in France and in Tilburg, Holland, at the invitation of Grupo Capoeira Brasil.

In 2007, he made his second European tour playing in France and Italy, showcasing besides the compositions from the album Força (2005) songs from the second album, We are One, 2008, already in recording phase.

After being invited by Cufa, Central Única das Favelas, Andread Jó returned to Europe in 2008, Sweden, where besides the shows, he was a translator and witness to the work developed by Cufa in Brazil, at events of great importance such as: The National Council of Swedish Youth Organizations (May 16-18 2008 Orebro - Sweden) discussing with youth leaders from various countries the issue of climate change, as well as seminars in the cities of Stockholm and Uppsala, addressing the difficulties and challenges of young people living in Brazilian favelas, and in the same year he released his second album, We are One, received by specialized critics with great respect.

In 2009 and 2010, besides shows in Brazil, Andread Jó returned to Europe and played for the first time in England, birthplace of reggae music on the old continent, as well as shows in France and Holland.

In 2011 the musician completed 10 years of career in great style; he recorded his newest work entitled Andread Jó sings Bob Marley, becoming the third Brazilian to obtain official authorization from the Marley family to record an album with songs by the king. On September 28, 2012 the artist released his third album, Andread Jó sings Bob Marley (2012), in Fortaleza – Ce, followed by a tour of Brazil.

In 2013, the artist spent six months playing and promoting his work in England, Holland and France, returning to Brazil in early November.

At the moment the artist resides on Thursdays at Órbita, Fortaleza – Ce, recorded his first live DVD and CD in September at the Dragão do Mar amphitheater in a memorable show, with release expected between January and March 2016. The DVD will include songs from the 3 albums already released, as well as unreleased songs from the fourth album, which should also be recorded during 2016.
