Eight people, eight dreams: Rafa, Tati, Sander, Diego, Nê, Vinícius, Emerson and Rodrigo played guitar, sang and shared chimarrão in Porto Alegre parks. From those meetings grew a strong friendship and the idea to form a band; in the second half of 2000 Chimarruts began their journey.\r\r\nWith original songs about love and peace, the band scored regional radio hits such as "Chapéu de Palha" and "Iemanjá". Their self‑titled debut CD (2002) featured 14 tracks written by the band and led to a deal with Orbeat Music. Chimarruts made their debut at the major festival Planeta Atlântida in 2003.\r\r\nThey shared stages with major Brazilian artists and, in 2003, released "Todos Somos Um" with singles like "Deixa Chover" and the hit "Saber Voar". The band toured widely across southern Brazil and expanded their national reach with subsequent albums including "Livre para Viajar" (2005).\r\r\nIn 2007 Chimarruts recorded their first live CD/DVD at Curitiba Master Hall, released by EMI Music, and continued touring across Brazil. The band released "Só Pra Brilhar" in 2010 and performed at Pop Music Festival alongside Ziggy Marley and Shakira in 2011.\r\r\nThe special CD/DVD edition "Só Pra Brilhar" (2011) collects performances, interviews and behind‑the‑scenes moments, offering a portrait of Chimarruts: Rafa Machado (voice), Nê (vocals, quena flute and harmonica), Tati Portela (vocals), Diego Dutra (drums), Vinícius Marques (percussion), Emerson Alemão (bass), Sander Fróis (guitar), Rodrigo Maciel (guitar), with guest appearances by Tuzinho (trumpet), Boquinha (trombone) and Luquinha (keyboards).
