In 2002 in the Pirituba neighborhood of São Paulo-SP the band Damata was born with strong influence from Black Music and its branches, wrapped in the pure weight of Reggae. In 2008 the band Damata released its first work entitled "Da Mata"; on this album the band featured heavyweight guests such as Sandrão (RZO) and Rodrigo Pirituba (Farufyno), creating a unique sound. With a strong stage presence and contagious reggae, the band Damata has been surprising wherever it goes; the song "RESISTENCIA" is now played on Brazil's main radio stations. In 2009 the band had the honor of sharing the stage with great names of National and International Reggae Music such as: GROUNDATION (USA), DON CARLOS (JAM), ISRAEL VIBRATION (JAM), SOJA (USA), APPLE GABRIEL (JAM), PONTO DE EQUILIBRIO (BRA), among other greats, playing for varied audiences from 50 to 10 thousand people.

In 2010 the band Damata went through lineup changes and with that entered a more introspective phase leaving its members even more united. After the storm passed and with a new lineup, Damata entered 2011 with the project of recording its new work, for which they counted on production and mixing by Wagner Bagão (DUBALIZER), one of Brazil's best producers of Reggae and its branches. In 2011, the band released the EP single "AGORA É O TEMPO" with 4 tracks, maintaining the weight of the mix of reggae with Hip Hop and further expanding its lyrics and poetry.
