Rohan Alexander Bennett, or "Determine", was born in 1972 in the city of Annotto Bay, St. Mary, Jamaica. A brilliant student, he specialized in Economics but soon decided to follow his heart and pursue a musical career in Kingston. His first performances took place on the Jamaican Sound System Circuit where he quickly gained popularity, winning the "Rockers" award for best DJ in 1995. His first recording was the single "Lion in Zion", released by the King Jammy label.
This was followed by the songs "Dem No Know Love", "Burn Up" and "Selassie I". His first international success however came from a partnership with Beenie Man on the song "Kette Drum", which was number one on the Jamaican charts and in other parts of the world. In 1996 Determine was strengthening his résumé, with a sequence of successful singles such as "Live Wire", "Time Like This" "Who", "What Dem A Think", "Welcome Shaka Zulu", "I Shall Not", and "If A Nevah Jah".
His first self-production, "More and More" released on his own label "Zulu Productions/Matches Box" reached first place on the Canadian charts. In the same year the artist released his first album, "Rock the World", on VP Records. Determine has toured countries such as Netherlands, Switzerland, France and the United States. The artist's second album was released in 1999, entitled "Freedom Chant". Then, in 2003, came "Unity", a partnership with fellow Reggae singer Norris Man. To date, the most recent album is called "Me Go Through Dat", from 2005. In recent years the artist has been working on his own label and new album, which should be released soon. The most recent single, "Wanna Make Love With You" has reached large audiences and won fans worldwide.
