Another reggae artist from Bahia making hat-tip-worthy music, Dionorina with his enormous Dread Locks delivers with "Altissíma Canção" and "Encontro". The man plays every Thursday at a bar in Sampa "Sem Eira e Nem Beira" in Vila Olympia (worth checking out), performs all songs from his CD, and also hits by Sine Calmon, Edson Gomes and of course Bob Marley. Reggae grade 100. Dionorina is undoubtedly one of the most respected musicians in Bahia... At only 10 years old, he was already performing on radio programs in Feira de Santana, his hometown. Then came shows and performances in nightclubs in Salvador and Rio de Janeiro, until in 74 he decided to return to his homeland to improve his classical music studies.
In 77 he won the soloist title granted by the Federal University of Paraíba. From then on, Dionorina scored programs for TV and made soundtracks for cinema and theater, until winning the Caymmi trophy in 93, in the best song category, with "Porrada de Polícia", a happy partnership with Jorge Magalhães. This award guaranteed the recording of his first cd, entitled 'Música de Rua". Speaking of partners, among the illustrious composers who work with Dionorina, highlights include Antônio Medrado, Lazzo, Buzinga, Carlos Pita, Jorge de Angélica, Dalmo Medeiros and Del Carlos, besides Jorge Magalhães himself.
There has always been an identification of the man and the musician with reggae, rhythm and philosophy present in the lyrics, songs and especially in his attitudes. Although an admirer and declared promoter of traditional reggae, Dionorina remains attentive to new influences and does not hesitate to experiment. Result: his music sounds like a great fusion of styles, where almost everything is allowed and whose only concern is creating a sound capable of seducing the most demanding ears.
So much so that Dionorina ended up opting for a reduced band, but at the same time consistent and with more of a reggae feel, with stage presence and almost magnetic control over the audience, Dionorina considers he is going through the best moment of his career: "I am mature, with my feet on the ground and in a very interesting creative moment.
