Reggae mourning: Dana David, vocalist of Filosofia Reggae, passes away

Read article

Filosofia Reggae formed eight years ago in São Caetano do Sul, ABC Paulista. Their history includes tragedy and lineup changes. The original members were Veto (vocals), Português (bass), Sandro (guitar), Japonês (guitar), Andre (drums) and Wagner (percussion).\r\r\nEarly shows gained attention and Veto invited Denise de Paula to share lead vocals. Plans for a studio record were interrupted when Veto was murdered, which led to lineup changes: Português, Andre and Denise remained and were joined by Lia (keyboards), Zé (guitar) and backing vocalists Danusa and Daiane. With that formation they recorded the album "Real Situação" (2002).\r\r\nFollowing success they recorded a live CD "Filosofia Reggae – Real Situação Ao Vivo" with new tracks and videos. Internal disputes led to further departures; Denise and the sisters Danusa and Daiane took leadership with a philosophy of singing to survive and move on.\r\r\nLike a phoenix, Filosofia Reggae rose from its ashes, achieving radio success with "Sentimento Bom" and preparing new recordings such as the single "Só Pra Alegrar seu Dia". The band continues to evolve.
