The band "FILOSOFIA REGGAE" was formed in 1998 by RAS PORTUGA and VETO, both from São Caetano do Sul, State of São Paulo. In small shows the band was establishing itself through talent and especially through the charisma of vocalist Veto, who together with RAS PORTUGA and SANDRO, began composing the songs "ÁFRICA" and "DE QUEM É A CULPA" for the first CD. The song "REAL SITUAÇÃO" was composed by RAS PORTUGA, VETO and RODRIGO PICOLO, vocalist of the band MATO SECO.
"LEVA A VIBRAÇÃO" was composed by SANDRO. The CD "REAL SITUAÇÃO" began to be recorded in 2002, but recording was interrupted on October 7 of that year, when VETO was cowardly murdered by a military police officer. Deeply shaken, Sandro, Vagner and Alessandro Japa left the group, but Ras Portuga resolved to continue the work by forming the first band with a female vocal trio in Brazil.
In this new beginning, they had the support of the band Nação Regueira, where vocalist Carlinhos Pontes composed the song "Sentimento Bom", and the tribute to Veto "Injustiça", the latter in partnership with Cremutcho. After that, success appeared and Filosofia Reggae was on Brazil's main radio stations, and soon other support came, such as solo guitarist Jonas Grilo and rapper Liu Mr. Fully conquering the reggae scene and playing for thousands of people, Filosofia Reggae soon appeared on the main compilations and events of the style.
In 2005, Liu Mr and Ras Portuga composed the song "EU E VOCÊ", a version of ALTON ELLIS' song "I'm Still in Love With You", and Sandro composed "SE O DIA NÃO TERMINAR", another hit that year. After "different ideas" emerged among the members, the band split into two parts. On one side the vocalists who kept the name Filosofia Reggae and on the other Ras Portuga who, missing all the hard work of the past, including overcoming after the fateful loss of Veto, all the great achievements, kept the name FILOSOFIA REGGAE ORIGINAL, and in 2009 presented the new vocalist Lenny Fya, who gave a new air to the lineup. Songs like "Jah Jah Vai Reinar" are part of the repertoire of the public, DJs and radio stations.
In 2013 the band released the Special 13 Years CD, which has already been viewed on Youtube more than 100,000 times. The band also released in 2013 its first official music video for the song "Jah Jah Vai Reinar", and in November 2014 the CD and DVD "Special 15 Years".
The band also works as support for other artists, such as EeK Mouse, Cedric Myton (The Congos), R Zee Jackson, Fat string, Vania Colours, Al Griffiths (The Gladiators), Kevin Isaacs, Junior Dread, Liu Mr, Carlinhos Nação, Adriana Nogueira among others.
