Born in California, international reggae attraction Groundation is preparing for its fourth tour of South America. On previous appearances, the group demonstrated all its strength and, above all, why it is considered one of the greatest Reggae groups of the new generation. Selling out venues around the world, the band has collected successful tours across Europe, the United States, South America and Africa.

Some highlights: the first American reggae band to play in Morocco (40,000 people) and the first performance in Casablanca (50,000 fans) — all intoxicated by contagious positive energy and awaiting the next tour. The music carries the cultural consciousness of roots reggae. Positive lyrics mixed with touches of jazz, funk and DUB make the band the success it represents today. It already gathers thousands of fans around the world, becoming more popular with each passing day. Watching the show, it is easy to see why.

Today, Groundation is a strong presence on the reggae music scene. The band is respected worldwide for its love of Jah's music and the positive messages it brings to every show. The strength of this work is undeniable, and more people know it every day. This could never have happened without the support of so many fans. There is a saying: "If you do not know your past, you will not know your future." Groundation knows its past and is already taking steps toward its future. Groundation captures the essence of Roots Reggae, but also elevates the genre to another level of modernity by incorporating elements of Jazz and Dub.

The band began in 1998 when three already experienced musicians — Marcus Urani (keyboards), Ryan Newman (bass) and Harrison Stafford (vocals/guitar) — came together after meeting at Sonoma State University (California). In 2000, jazz trumpeter David Chachere and trombonist Kelsey Howard joined the group. Drummer Paul Spina joined in 2001, leaving in 2008, replaced by Rufus, a veteran of the West Coast Jazz/Reggae scene in the United States.

The group also enjoys the luxurious support of two Jamaican backing vocalists who have accompanied some of the biggest names in Reggae from the Island. Groundation's evolution continues... its jazz roots, freedom of expression, Dub influences and lyrics that evoke cultural consciousness created this unique sound.
