Libertus, formed in July 2000, blends progressive reggae with MPB, jazz, blues and regional rhythms to create a syncretic musical identity. With influences ranging from Bob Marley and Steel Pulse to Gilberto Gil and Djavan, the band has been an active presence on Salvador’s alternative scene and has performed at carnivals, festivals and venues across Brazil. Their debut demo (2005) showcased original songs and the group later released a second album with notable guest appearances.
Libertus writes songs that reflect social reality and human feeling, promoting peace, positivity and a sense of freedom.
