It owes its name to the black man's bible (rastas), Holy Piby being the foundation of the Rastafari religion. The band was formed in 2003 in Lanus, Argentina. It is made up of musicians who fuse reggae, rock, funk and dub. Their influences are from black roots such as Steel Pulse, Ziggy Marley, James Brown and Ben Harper. After 3 months playing in different places in Buenos Aires, they shared the stage with other Argentine bands such as Sinsemilla, Riddim, Dancing Mood, Los cafres, Nonpalidece and Resistencia Suburbana.

Holy Piby was elected winner in the radio contest for new bands (at Day tripper, Rock and Pop), among 130 participants. In August 2004 it ranked first on the "La de Dios" chart (reggae radio program) and stayed in the top eight for 5 months. It participated in the "Quilmes Rock 2004" festival, where the main attraction was the legendary band The Wailers. It also played with the Brazilian band Tribo de Jah, during its passage through Buenos Aires.

Its CD "Neighborhood" was recorded at Afro Estudio, and mixed by musicians Federico Ariztegui and Hernán Sforzini. It was released independently in Argentina, in Spain by Liquidator Music and in the United States by Ras Records.
