About ten years ago, Fabio Assis Jagun left his hometown of Salvador in the State of Bahia, Brazil, to arrive in Los Angeles in search of a new musical adventure, which would be the integration of his native Brazilian beat and his African roots. Fabio, with his passion for Reggae, ended up in the heart of the city of angels, this cultural city that is called a "melting pot," where all cultures mix. Thus, Fabio created an extraordinary connection between Brazil, Jamaica, and the USA, which can be reflected in his music in the form of an incredible blend of sounds, rhythms, and poetry. Fabio Assis "Jahgun" has always been and still is an activist in cultural activism and the fight against racial discrimination and socioeconomic inequality.
"I believe that music has the power to reach people's hearts, thus educating and uniting our people.".
Jahgun developed his musical career with the Creative School Olodum, and with the combination of his experience and the influence of local and also international artists, his music was born. Fabio "Jahgun," always determined to promote positivity and awareness through music, fused a unique combination of sounds. He composes reggae with lyrics in English and Portuguese that speak of peace, harmony, and love. “Reggae is my passion” - comments the singer and songwriter.
His music has the flavor of familiar reggae, with ancient roots, and a fresh and modern touch that finds its inspiration from the cultural and musical diversity of the city of Los Angeles. Musically influenced by musicians like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Israel Vibration, Toots and The Maytals, and Inner Circle, as well as by Afro-Brazilian music, Jahgun has managed to create his own unique style that makes each performance a unifying and energetic experience.
"My vision is that through music and movement, we can spread the concept that we are all one, 'One Race, One Love, One Soul,' and that we can all live in this world in peace and harmony." Jahgun has shared the stage with many renowned artists in Los Angeles, such as Israel Vibration, Pato Banton, Toots and The Maytals, Midnite, Abyssinians, among others.
Jahgun has also showcased his musical work several times at the famous "House of Blues" in Hollywood, and at various famous festivals such as City of Trees, Reggae Upon the Mountain, Brazilian Day in San Diego, among others. He also played with Ziggy Marley and the group Olodum in Brazil in 2010.
In 2012, Jagun went on an international tour in Qatar sharing the stage with the legendary reggae singer Maxi Priest at the "Sun Splash Festival," and also played for American troops based at the "As Sayliyah" camp. It was then that the band received a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. military.
