Perhaps this is the most controversial and intriguing reggae artist in the world. Internationally recognized as a legend in the history of Jah's rhythm, Max Romeo is one of the strongest personalities of the rhythm. Even affable personally, with a calm and thoughtful air, this artist created revolution with his lyrics. Among his various classics, one song shows well the devastating and piercing nature of his lyrics: "War Inna Babylon", banned from Jamaican radio by the country's authorities, who claimed its content could incite people to conflict.

In truth, the singer was merely criticizing the great political disorder and civil war climate reigning in Jamaica between the two factions of the island's major political parties, which made it almost ungovernable. Always addressing current themes, whether with political-social connotation or merely everyday facts, Max Romeo is a legend. He was courted by numerous musicians, such as Keith Richards (Rolling Stones), among many others. He is certainly one of the brightest among Jamaica's "Old Gladiators".
