With four years on the road, reggae band Mohvibe already stands out on the musical scene of São Paulo's ABC region. Formed in São Caetano do Sul, the group transmits good vibes, as suggested by the band's name. "We always used this expression 'mohvibe' ('major vibe'), in the sense of various vibrations," says guitarist Bani.
Blending original compositions and performances of established groups — such as Natiruts, Maskavo, Cidade Negra and, of course, Bob Marley —, Mohvibe is marked by irreverence and joy, always present in their shows.
Speaking of shows, the band has had memorable performances at major events, such as Fun Music (the country's biggest university music festival) in 2010. Sharing the stage with names like Planta e Raiz and Jorge e Matheus, Mohvibe thrilled an audience of 15 thousand people and was a semifinalist of the event.
In 2011, the band stood out at the ABC metalworkers' music festival, playing on the same stage as Paralamas do Sucesso and winning 3rd place. In October of the same year, Mohvibe held the launch show for the video "Reggae a Paixão" at Açaí Praia, São Paulo's biggest reggae venue. Much of the audience enjoyed the band's sound on the Acesso MTV program, marking the video's TV debut. To complete the successful year, the band reached the Fun Music 2011 final and won 3rd place in the awards.
Mohvibe is formed by: Dan (Daniel Caetano, vocals and guitar), Allam (Allam Uzuelli, percussion), Bani (Bruno Bani, guitar), Lulo (Luiz Roberto, drums) and Bedin (Henrique Bedin, bass).
With 15 original songs and lyrics that speak of love, peace and social awareness, Mohvibe promises to shake up the reggae scene in the second half of the year with the CD "Por aí...num lugar". The surprise comes from a very special guest. On the song "Menino do Morro", Zeider Pires, vocalist of the band Planta e Raíz, sings alongside Dan. Will this be the new national reggae hit?
