Like vitamins? Then mix a bunch of musical influences, press the blend button, shake a little more and done! you'll have Nayah, a musical concentrate that gets better with every beat! Born in 1998 and formed by Guga Freire on drums, Felipe Escovedo on bass and Kid Mumu on vocals, the Rio de Janeiro soul group originated in Niterói's fertile musical breeding ground, home to various reggae, ska and hip hop bands. The first album, released independently in 2001 with production by Wallace Cardia and participation by rapper and MC Gustavo Black Alien, launched Nayah into the strong reggae scene of the country's south. Led by tracks like "felicidade" and "por você", the CD entered major radio programming and sold about 5 thousand copies on debut, an expressive number for a 100% independent debut.
The good performance of this debut work put the band on major festivals such as Planeta Atlântida and World Social Forum of 2002 and 2003. Keeping the independent spirit, Nayah decided to change, yes, a winning team, and added MCs Renzo and Punk to its original lineup, giving the group a different face, a more ragga, more rap and even more electronic face, via drum'n bass. With this new menu of sounds poured into their blender, the band released in 2005 its second album, "Foge pra lua", produced by Hiroshi Mizutani, occasional partner of Lulu Santos.
Keeping the tradition of recording with Niterói guests, this time the group featured Claudio Zoli, who imprinted his soulful voice on the track "sinta a energia". With this second work, Nayah remained firm and strong on the musical circuit, opening shows in Rio, in eternal Niterói, and in the surfing community, through a performance opening the Brazilian stage of the world surfing circuit in Florianópolis.
