Djalma Ramos Vieira, known as Nengo Vieira, was born in Cachoeira, in the Bahian recôncavo. Since childhood he had affinity with music, working at dances, recordings and accompanying various artists such as Tribo de Jah, Edson Gomes, Lazzo, among others. In 80 he became a marijuana user, when he discovered Bob Marley's sound.

In 82 he began his solo career seeking roots reggae sound. During this research he met a musician friend who woke early, smoked marijuana and read the Bible. Nengo adopted this habit and they formed a reggae group called "Remanescentes" (Rm 9:27), proposing to announce the Gospel through reggae in secular settings.

In 86 Nengo Vieira married Valéria Vieira, who became the band's vocalist. "Remanescentes" lasted almost 10 years, ending in 93. After separation Nengo had dreams and visions of radical change. On an April 94 night, smoking marijuana at home, he felt deep soul constraint — as Isaiah 55 says, God's Word does not return empty — and God spoke to his heart that from then on he would not smoke again and would be sent to preach the good news to nations.

In 1994 he joined a Baptist congregation in Cachoeira under Pastor Jair Gonçalves and was baptized. In 97, living in Salvador, he was baptized in the Holy Spirit. In 98 he released his first cd "Somos Libertos" with band Tribo d´Abraão.

In 2002 with manager Rui Mascarenhas he released "Mata Atlântica", pure evangelism in roots reggae style. In 2003 he moved to SP, joining Ministério Bola de Neve under Pastor Rinaldo Seixas, raised as deacon and Worship Minister in Santos with Pastor Eric Vianna. Recognized as missionary, he evangelizes through reggae. In 2006 he simultaneously released live cd "Vem pro Caminho regar" recorded at IBCA Salvador, and cd CHAMA.

Currently in studio recording his 5th cd "Avivamente" (Rm 12), produced by Maurício Monteiro at Bola de Neve church studios, released by Bola Music. Nengo Vieira became a classic reference in reggae; he and wife Valéria have 5 children and continue their calling as evangelists through Bola de Neve, glorifying the name of Lord Jesus.
