Nigel "NiyoRah" Olivacce was born on October 9, 1980 in the Dominican Republic. At 4 years old, he moved with his family to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. From that moment on, NiyoRah began to take an interest in music, which he heard through his father and uncle's Reggae record collection. Names like Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear and Lucky Dube were part of this period of "inspiration" for the future singer. At 16, NiyoRah began singing on the streets about experiences in the Savan ghettos – downtown Charlotte Amalie.
The decision to build a career in Reggae came at 18, and the name NiyoRah arose from a combination of his nickname and his adoration for the omnipotent force of the sun. Choosing the career of musician was easy for him, due to the heritage he received from some of his relatives, such as his grandfather – award-winning gospel vocalist and his aunt Ophelia Olivacce Mari, internationally known Dominican Calypso singer. In 1998 he was introduced to Black Juice Records by Ras Manny, a local radio personality, forming with 6 other artists the group "Star Lion Family". His voice can be heard on the 2003 EP "Brighter Days".
"A Different Age" is Niyorah's first solo album. The record speaks of culture, love for nature, spiritual growth, strengthening of peoples, among other themes. Niyorah shows his vocal ability as a traditional singer and as a DJ/MC.
Important partnerships were made with musicians such as Tuff Lion – guitarist of Bambu Station, Laurent "Tippy" Alfred, Kenyatta Itola, Astor Campbell, among other Reggae greats.
