Formed in 1999, the band Raízes Rasta continues on its path, increasingly consolidating its musical identity and seeking a greater space in the music scene. The eclecticism of styles and musical sources explains why an increasingly loyal audience supports the band, which was honored with the Revelation Band Award in 2002 by the São Paulo Reggae Circuit, still with its first album entitled RAÍZES RASTA (2001), with 11 thousand copies sold.
Released in August 2003, with 20 thousand copies sold, the album ATITUDE produced by Paulo Calasans (a renowned musician and producer, for having played alongside Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Rita Lee, Cássia Eller and for producing the albums of Jorge Vercilo and Ana Carolina), is recognized by critics and the public as one of the great CDs in the Brazilian reggae scene. The reunion with the roots of reggae was perceived in the promotional track "Luz do Sol", which was on the playlists of major radio stations, such as the 89 FM network, Rádio Rock, in the cities of São Paulo - SP, Santos - SP, Campinas - SP, Sorocaba - SP, Rio de Janeiro - RJ, Vitória - ES, Goiânia – GO, Rádio Metropolitana in SP (98.5 FM), Rádio Tropical FM (107.9 FM), in addition to having been one of the most played reggae tracks on radio stations in various regions of the country.
The musical identity and the band's maturity are evident on the album UM JEITO DE VIRAR TUDO (2006), bringing well-crafted songs combined with elements of other rhythms such as Samba, Hip Hop and MPB. The CD is a major novelty in the musical scene, containing 17 tracks produced by the band itself. This new work brings new influences such as the cover of the song São Gonça, by composer Seu Jorge, a musician recognized on the national and international scene.
Currently the band is focused and working to release in 2013 the SOM AMBIENTE project, which due to its characteristics will have educational content aimed at environmental awareness, addressing varied themes within this context, such as global warming and sustainable development.
Since 2003, Raízes Rasta has toured several Brazilian states, their capitals and the main venues such as Credicard Hall (SP), Via Funchal (SP), Tom Brasil (SP), Marista Hall (MG), Fundição Progresso (RJ), Canecão (RJ), Opinião (RS), Café Pinhão (SC), among others.
