The reggae band, now based at the top of Morro da Reação in the Santos Dumont neighborhood — on the outskirts of Aracaju — plays authentic militant roots reggae. Its lyrics speak out against social injustice, mistreatment of Black people, police violence, the neglect of some politicians, the extermination of our indigenous peoples and many other themes. Reação began its career on Atalaia Nova island on November 20, 2000.
That is where the first rehearsals took place, lasting about a year. After that, the band already felt ready to start performing shows and presenting its compositions to the public. The beginning was difficult, as the band insisted on working its own songs when the Sergipe audience was more accustomed to cover songs and bands.
But Reação did not give up, and soon the public began to understand the message and follow the band wherever it performed. The band took part in several shows and festivals, sharing the stage with: Vibrações Rasta/AL, Nengo Vieira & Tribo D´Abrãao/BA, Natiruts/DF, Dj Dolores/SE, Lobão/RJ, Adão Negro/BA among others, in São Luís do Maranhão, Maceió with the brothers from Adão Negro/BA, Mensageiros de Jah/AL and Alma Rasta/AL.
