Ricky Husbands was born in British Guiana to a Jamaican family. Raised in the Caribbean, where he also lived in Suriname, his musical work reflects the influence of Caribbean rhythms. He began his career singing in churches. Possessing a resonant and harmonious voice, he developed his musical skills as a vocalist and keyboardist.

Charismatic, with a striking interpretation full of swing, his repertoire includes funk, blues, soul and romantic ballads, and reggae, the rhythm of his origins. Reggae, the music produced in Jamaica, with the greatest prestige and success worldwide, is present in his performances, through his own compositions and performances of acclaimed works by Bob Marley, Inner Circle, Peter Tosh, Starlights, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown and other giants of international music.

His first band was Ambassador and then Curtis Mg´s. With the rock band The Family Affair, he played at National Park in British Guiana for 15,000 people. He reached number one on the charts with 3 songs on the recording of his first LP, Blowing Hot and Cold, with the band Duehsmo Syndicate, achieving success in the Caribbean and also in Europe, having sold more than 42,000 copies. He opened shows for Steve Wonder, Steel Pulse, Yellow Man and Mai Tai, super famous in the Netherlands at the time.

From 1987 to 1989, with the band Duehsmo Syndicate, he toured Brazil, performing in various cities such as Manaus, Belém, São Paulo, São Luís, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro. He came to Brazil, specifically to Bahia, where he has lived in Salvador for 9 years. Here, together with Jimmy Cliff, he began a new phase in his successful career. For 7 years, from 1991 to 1998, he accompanied the Jamaican singer as keyboardist and vocalist on shows throughout Latin America. In 1991 he recorded with Jimmy Cliff on the album Breakout and played at Festin In Bahia.
