Seven years ago, the band Shamáyim Zion emerged in Castelo Branco, a peripheral neighborhood of Salvador. A project by young musician Denison Alemão, inspired to carry the Good News in his compositions, highlighting the most obvious: love, and adding values for the community, with the strength of reggae music. Shamáyim comes from Latin meaning Heaven above Heaven; Zion meaning Promised Land.
Awareness, Politicization, Cultural Identity — these are watchwords that govern the repertoire of Shamáyim Zion, recounting historical facts, speaking of love, praising Jah, with sublime feeling that transcends all understanding. Shamáyim Zion believes and does not give up on passing the message of a better world, governed on the basis of the true love of the Sovereign Most High God of the Universe — Jah.
