The release of Banda Veja Luz's first album inaugurated a new phase for Finnu Ras (vocals), Cebola (keyboards), Marcus Rosa (bass and vocals), Marcelo Caveman (drums and percussion) and Nando Rangel (guitar). The CD that earned the band's name is the result of four years of searching for a unique sound that would stamp their musical identity. With boldness and originality, the band formed in 2008 brings influences from Jamaican reggae, English, Brazilian and Afro rhythms, forming melodies that move through various aspects within reggae itself. Lyrics full of energy and engaged with socio-cultural issues complete Veja Luz's reggae formula, authentic and universal.
The debut album, with eleven tracks and the same title, was mixed by Maranhão musician and producer Gerson da Conceição and mastered by Beto Mendonça. To top it off, high-level guests participate in the album. The first track, Renovação, features the voice of musician Gerson da Conceição, Dada Yute (ex Leões de Israel and Leandro Kintê (Filhos da Terra), who contribute to Restorando o Viver. Known for his work with Nação Zumbi, Mundo Livre S/A, Racionais Mc’s, Cordel do Fogo Encantado, among others, the award-winning Pernambuco producer and musician Buguinha Dub contributed to the album ´´ Veja Luz `` by transforming the track I Go in a fertilized version. Furthermore, Queda da Babilônia, features Mc Funk Buia (Z’África Brasil).
The work song Veja Luz brings a reflection on the recovery of self-esteem. Interspersed with extremely competent authorial works by Finnu Ras and Marcus Rosa, the band takes to the streets current themes that involve political, economic and social questions, the recovery of origins and even issues linked to religious and spiritual behavior that are completed by tuned melodies, striking guitars, well-arranged keyboards and winds, engaging bass and drums and timbres that refer to an atypical atmosphere, always full of energy. In their live performances, they add poetry and interventions, transmitting all positivity for a fairer world and strengthening themselves day by day in the independent scene of quality Brazilian music.
