Ziggy Marley, the eldest son of Bob Marley, was not born into wealth. In August 1968 Bob was still working hard to support the family when David (Ziggy’s given name) was born. After Bob’s death in 1981, Ziggy formed The Melody Makers with siblings Stephen, Cedella and Sharon (Sharon being Rita Marley’s daughter from another relationship).\r\r\nThe group recorded two albums and reached international acclaim with "Fallen Is Babylon" (1997), which won a Grammy. Earlier, Ziggy had already earned Grammy recognition with "Conscious Party" (1989) and "One Bright Day" (1990).\r\r\nA four‑time Grammy winner, Ziggy Marley has long blended music, activism and humanitarian work. He released "Ziggy Marley in Concert" from his Wild and Free World Tour and has been involved in projects such as the documentary MARLEY (executive producer) and the monthly radio program Legends of Reggae. He also launched an organic food brand called Organics Ziggy Marley.\r\r\nRaised in Kingston, Ziggy and his siblings grew up around Bob Marley and The Wailers’ early recording sessions. Reuniting with Sharon, Cedella and Stephen, Ziggy formed Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers and developed a soulful sound combining blues, R&B, hip‑hop and roots reggae. The Melody Makers won their first Grammy for "Conscious" (1988) and continued to release acclaimed albums including "One Bright Day" (1989) and "Fallen Is Babylon" (1997), always grounded in faith and family.
