Drugs: Portuguese press questions Gilberto Gil about marijuana legalization!
Drugs: Portuguese
The partnership between the two Bahian stars is always synonymous with success. After the success of a tour that took place in July with stops in London (England), Vienna (Austria), Paris (France), Rome (Italy) and the renowned Montreux festival in Switzerland, Gilberto Gil and Maria Bethânia spend the week in Portugal for a new season of shows. Today they perform at the Coliseu de Recreios in Lisbon and then continue their schedule, which will pass through the cities of Porto, Espinho and Coimbra. The shows feature individual performances by the Bahians and an unforgettable duet at the end.
There will be six performances in the country in total, and during a press conference held yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, Gil and Bethânia spoke about the shows and future projects. Our Minister of Culture arrived dressed in black, contrasting with Bethânia, who kept her traditionally white outfit.
The Portuguese journalists did not miss the opportunity to debate with the Minister of Culture, a Bob Marley fan, about the controversy over the legalization of soft drugs in several countries. Gil stood firm in his words, declaring himself in favor of legalization and questioning the effectiveness of police actions aimed at repressing and controlling trafficking, while warning about the dramatic consequences caused by a lack of criteria.
Regarding the show, Gil and Bethânia defined the project as a spectacle focused on Brazilian northeastern culture. The repertoire includes Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, Dominguinhos, Luiz Gonzaga and Bob Marley.
SCHEDULE
Divided between the duties of minister and the profession of artist, Gil takes advantage of his passage through Portugal to extend his stay until Paris, where he is expected at a UNESCO meeting scheduled for the 9th. He will then pass through Barcelona for a meeting of the Fórum Amigos da Cultura do Brasil na Europa, where he will be alongside former Ministers of Culture Manuel Maria Carrilho, Jack Lang, Jorge Semprum and Valter Veltroni.Category
