Reggae across all media!

Reggae across

The strength and space that reggae is conquering in Brazil are increasingly evident. TV stations, radio and magazines are featuring a growing number of articles and reports related to the rhythm in their broadcasts and editions. Recently, two broadcasters (Rede Globo and Bandeirantes) aired programs related to reggae. Globo broadcast, though certainly not with the quality it deserved, the Maranhão Reggae Festival, the main reggae event held this year in the city of São Luís in Maranhão, with a fantastic crowd and major names in national and international reggae. Bandeirantes aired in its late-night newscast a series of reports on Jamaica and reggae.

The November issue of MTV magazine featured an excellent report titled "This thing called Brazilian reggae" covering the pioneers of the rhythm in Brazil, the origin of reggae, Rastafarianism, major events, the new generation of reggae, and more. The piece includes photos of Mystical Roots, Dagô & Radical Roots, Tribo de Jah and Planta e Raiz. It also features comments and quotes from their vocalists and from Alexandre of Natiruts. There is strong participation from bands on the Central Reggae label and other major artists of the genre in the country. The article closes with a brief explanation of the differences between types of reggae: Roots, Dub, Dancehall, etc. It is well worth reading this excellent report.

Beer brand Schincariol features Tribo de Jah and Big Mountain as attractions at the launch festival for its new beer, Nova Schin, which will take place in Florianópolis. This shows the recognition of major media outlets for reggae, which has definitively won its place in the hearts of Brazilians. We will keep moving forward, always with humility and dedication, reaching all those who are ready to enjoy this wonderful rhythm.
