Reggae lovers from around the world expected in Kingston for the Third Annual Reggae Music Exhibition!
Reggae lovers from all over the world are expected in Kingston, the capital of Reggae in the world, for the Third Annual Reggae Music Expo (RME). The exhibition scheduled to take place from February 1 to 8, 2004 coincides with the also annual Bob Marley Tribute Week. The event will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Kingston.
This is the first time RME will be held in an indoor venue. The first in 2001 took place at Flamingo Beach, known as one of the beaches with the highest concentration of Rastafarians per square meter. The second, in 2002, took place in Negril.
RME provides an opportunity for emerging artists, films and art directors to establish their work before an audience of members of the Reggae Community from all over the world. The eight days will also bring together music buyers and sellers, says Astor Black of RAS Records, who will be present. The event will also include discussions and artist premieres. Reggae Week, as it is affectionately called by the organizers, was created to promote Reggae, and also to present topics related to the Rastafarian community, such as music, education, agriculture and tourism. RME, as previously stated, will feature nearly all producers, distributors and labels, who will display the work of their artists, with CDs, cassette tapes, singles, videos and DVDs.
