São Paulo band Arkaya promises to write another chapter in reggae history!
With a year and a half on the road, the band Arkaya finally releases LEVE A PAZ, its first CD. All 12 tracks are original compositions and the most faithful São Paulo reggae fans already know them from the shows. As for the arrangements and melodies, Arkaya makes abundant use of ska and dub, achieving a competent work with creativity and originality.
This first endeavor is a tribute to Levi, bassist of the band's first lineup, who passed away amid the dreams and projects of recording the CD. To "brother" Levi was dedicated the song 'Onde quer que esteja' and the name of the album which, with a brilliant play of colors and letters printed on the cover, clearly reveals the expression "LEVI E A PAZ". "This title is like an answer to the growing violence that, one of these days, ended up taking the life of our friend Levi", explains vocalist Fino.
The vocalist is also the band's great lyricist, he only does not sign the song 'O reggae é a cura', which was written by Lê, lead guitarist who also shares authorship of the track 'Se liga' with Fino himself. These two songs are like exaltation of reggae, since following Bob Marley's ideology is enough to forget pain and realize peace and love.
Contests and social critiques also have their guaranteed places. The most peaceful protests and desires for a better world are in 'Aqui na Terra' and 'Barquinho de papel'. The lyrics may even seem utopian, but in 'Livre' it becomes clear that the guys live reality, but do not deprive themselves of the dreams and ideologies present in all generations. A song that spoke of God was not lacking, 'Natural', and two ballads, 'Nós dois' and 'Som', which is the first result of Fino's inspiration and innate talent.
Arkaya's sensitivity and musical quality are indisputable, since the members themselves were responsible for all production details. Jovi Marcos, manager, besides lending his voice to the title track 'Leve a paz', carried out the entire graphic and visual project. He transformed the CD cover into a true celebration, with photos of friends and great moments of the band. Arkaya is like a child that, with only a year and a half, lost its fear and learned to walk, but already shows it has a promising future. The band comes strong to establish itself in the reggae scene, as it does not spare empathy, talent, effort, charisma and humility, which are the necessary ingredients to grow and conquer not only the São Paulo audience, but audiences throughout Brazil.
