See on Surforeggae the new statue honoring the king Bob Marley, which was unveiled this week at his museum in Kingston!

A new Bob Marley statue was inaugurated this week at the museum dedicated to the idol, located at "56 Hope Road" – Kingston, Jamaica. The artwork, conceived by Pierre Rouzier, took 6 months to finish and is made entirely of bronze, exactly the same dimensions Bob had when he was still alive. Pierre was also responsible for another Marley statue at the entrance to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

The honors were presented to Donisha Prendergrast, Bob Marley's granddaughter, who represented widow Rita at the ceremony. Complementing the statue, murals of Haile Selassie I, Marcus Garvey and the I-Threes (the backing vocal trio that accompanied Bob) are duly placed at the base of the structure. The mural paintings were done by artist Junior Moore.

The old statue that previously decorated the museum was donated to the "Trench Town Culture Yard" by the Bob Marley Foundation. The "Trench Town Culture Yard" was Bob Marley's home before his meteoric rise to stardom. An old bus that Marley drove also remains parked on the site.
