On a cold night, Alpha Blondy sets "Espaço das Américas-SP" alight! Check it out on Surforeggae!

Last Thursday, we were at the "Espaço das Américas" venue, a spacious and well-structured place with many screens to follow the show from anywhere in the hall. A perfect venue for international shows with artists of the caliber of Alpha Blondy & The Solar System. Around midnight, the show began with the Rio band "Maria Preta" and their sound in the best "O Rappa" style. With lyrics that express the daily life of most Brazilians, they sang many songs from their new album "Cabeça, Tronco e Membro", a sound that is, shall we say, "faster" and "louder" than what was to come. At the beginning the venue seemed empty, even though it is a very large hall, but around 1:00 AM attention turned to the stage, as The Solar System was already preparing in the introduction, the same as on the live CD "Paris Bercy". At this point, "Espaço das Américas" was already eager for the entrance of "Alpha Blondy", and a chorus shouted the name of the "man of the night" when his backing vocals were already thrilling the crowd, giving a show of their own. Everyone was stunned when "Psaume 23" began to be sung by Alpha still backstage. The star begins his show (as usual) with the classic "Jérusalem". Minutes later with the audience in delirium, Alpha appears limping because his leg was in a cast due to an accident he had on July 10 in Paris, France — after a show. Incidentally, this incident almost led to the postponement of the shows in Brazil, which fortunately was not necessary. Alpha Blondy performed many classics such as "Politiki", "Jah Glory", "Assinie Mafia", "Brigadier Sabari", "Sweet Fanta Diallo", "Peace in Libéria", "Hypocrite", among others. The band seemed not to want to say goodbye to that wonderful and enthusiastic audience, just as happened the other time they were in Brazil recently. With a performance that lasted nearly 2h30, the musicians left the stage, and with the warm requests from the audience, they returned for one more encore. After that wonderful night, we returned home calm and thoughtful, with the hope of more international shows on Brazilian soil.
