Reggae at number 2 on Disk MTV!

Reggae at
Reggae yes, but with a lot of influence from Funk, MPB and Rock — perhaps a more "digestible" way for most ears to delve deeper into more focused reggae later. That's how Marcelo Mira, with the band Alma D´Jem, takes 2nd place on the Disk program, promoted by MTV. The ranking of videos is done by audience votes, making 2nd place even more significant. The track titled "JOÃO" is on the band's second CD, "Tão-Somente". The video has already gained space on MTV's programming and is in 8th place on the TOP 20, surpassing Marcelo D2 with the video "Vai Vendo" (9th place), and O Rappa with "O Salto" (10th place). Founded in 97, the band started like so many others from Brasília, playing reggae, music that seems to have been tailor-made for the natural landscapes of the Cerrado. After recording the first album, "Grito de Liberdade", which sold 20 thousand copies independently, Alma D´Jem toured from Rio Grande do Sul to Espírito Santo, winning over a large audience alongside bands like Natiruts, Maskavo, Tribo de Jah and Dread Lion. The professionalization that was already a goal for the guys has been achieved; today the band resides in São Paulo with a new structure of member musicians, forming a sound powerhouse ready to electrify fans across the country. It's worth checking out the work and the beautiful album full of musicality.
