Last Saturday, October 9, Rock in Rio Café Salvador hosted an event featuring three attractions from Salvador’s Reggae/Forró Circuit. Although the audience was not the best — because of other mega-events of different rhythms in the city (which once again proves reggae is going through a fad phase in Salvador) — those present enjoyed everything on offer and only left after the show of the night’s last band.
The first to perform was Narrelva Roots, another new band in the reggae movement. Playing various covers from Bob Marley to Sine Calmon, in addition to their own songs, Narrelva drew plenty of attention thanks to the guitar and horn solos. Next, the northeastern rhythm took its place with the band Forró no Kilo, which has stood out along with other forró bands from Salvador, such as Canta Mais Eu and Estakazero.
To close the night, the guest band was Massai, which, with a very good instrumental and well-crafted versions of Jamaican classics, energized the audience that went through the Salvador night.
